COMVAT AG received a major order from Robert Bosch GmbH for the delivery of welded bellows for its newest generation of fuel injection pumps. Deliveries between 2006 and 2013 will range in the two-digit million numbers.
COMVAT's welded bellows are directly built into the vaccum chamber of the new high pressure pump HDP5 to smooth the pressure fluctuations of the camshaft driven pump. The damping trait is defined by the stiffness of the membrane and the pressure of the filled in Helium gas.
Function (middle picture): The high-pressure circuit of the direct gasoline injection is fed by a high-pressure pump (1) compressing the fuel to the high pressure level required in the fuel rail. The injectors (3) attached to the fuel rail (2) meter and atomize the fuel extremely fast and under high pressure in order to achieve the best possible mixture formation directly in the combustion chamber.
